Summer is here and we welcome back Florida’s afternoon flash flood rain showers. These downpours can do substantial damage over the course of 90 day’s if water is not running off your property correctly. Make sure to walk around your properties and give Miller’s Maintenance Group a call if you find any of the follow concerns:

 Soil Erosion.

Eroding soil from foundations can take merely just a couple hours. Be prepared to control erosion. Our team uses landscaping, decorative measures, concrete pavers, rocks or gravel to control erosion against Florida’s heavy downpours.

Gutters and Downspouts.

Catching rain when it falls and directing it where you want it to go will protect your property significantly from erosion. Drains should be at least 5 to 10 feet away from the house. Check to make sure top screws are secure and gutters are clear of debris.

Repair and Grade.

Miller’s Maintenance Group will assess the slope around the foundation to ensure it’s between 3 to 5% within 10 feet of your home. If it’s not, we can add soil and ground cover to keep flash flooding away from your home. Often times creating a down sloping swale to channel water is dually needed.
